Eurocode steel capacity checks
Roiko performs steel capacity checks to EN 1993 — cross-section and buckling for members, plus column base plates to EN 1993-1-8 — on the same model it generates and analyses.
Analysis and checking on one model
Roiko runs finite-element analysis on the structure it generated, builds the EN 1990 load combinations, and checks the steel members against EN 1993-1-1 for cross-section resistance and buckling. Column bases are checked separately to EN 1993-1-8.
Because the analysis model and the checked model are the same object, there is no re-entry step between them and no chance of the two drifting apart. The calculation report available from the Pro tier is generated from that same model.
Steel is one part of a wider Eurocode coverage
Roiko checks structures to the Eurocodes: steel members and column bases (EN 1993), reinforced concrete members (EN 1992), shallow foundations (EN 1997), load combinations (EN 1990), wind and snow actions (EN 1991) and seismic analysis (EN 1998).
Eurocode is the only design family implemented. Roiko does not check to AISC, ACI 318, IS 800 or AS/NZS — if a project needs one of those, that is worth telling the team, because what gets built next is driven by what projects actually require.
Questions
- Which design codes does Roiko support?
- Roiko checks structures to the Eurocodes: steel members and column bases (EN 1993), reinforced concrete members (EN 1992), shallow foundations (EN 1997), load combinations (EN 1990), wind and snow actions (EN 1991) and seismic analysis (EN 1998). Eurocode is the only design family implemented — Roiko does not check to AISC, ACI 318, IS 800 or AS/NZS.
- Does Roiko produce a calculation report?
- Yes. The calculation report is available from the Pro tier and is generated from the same model that was analysed and checked.
