Foundation design to Eurocode 7
Roiko checks shallow foundations to EN 1997-1 (Eurocode 7) on the same structural model it generates and analyses, so the foundations are part of the model from the first sentence rather than a separate calculation added at the end.
Foundations are in the model from the first sentence
When the Roiko demo was given a one-sentence description of a steel warehouse — seven bays by four, 17 m high, perimeter columns only — the model it returned had 22 pad foundations alongside its 22 columns, each 2 m by 2 m by 0.8 m in C30/37 concrete with B500B reinforcement and 50 mm cover, in one connected model of 164 elements. The demo generates the model and runs no checks. In the product, the same model goes on to finite-element analysis, the EN 1990 load combinations and the Eurocode checks, and the shallow foundations are checked to EN 1997-1 there — in the same pass as the steel members to EN 1993 and the reinforced concrete members to EN 1992.
One design family, stated exactly
Roiko checks structures to the Eurocodes: steel members and column bases (EN 1993), reinforced concrete members (EN 1992), shallow foundations (EN 1997), load combinations (EN 1990), wind and snow actions (EN 1991) and seismic analysis (EN 1998).
Eurocode is the only design family implemented. Roiko does not check to AISC, ACI 318, IS 800 or AS/NZS — if a project needs one of those, that is worth telling the team, because what gets built next is driven by what projects actually require.
This page says no more than that on purpose: shallow foundations, to EN 1997-1. What each check covers is shown in the product itself, where every check stays open to inspection.
Who this is for
Foundations are where a structural model most often stops being one model: the frame lives in one tool and the footings in another, with the loads carried across by hand. Roiko keeps the foundations in the same model as the frame, so the foundations and the structure above them are one model, checked as one.
Roiko assists the engineer rather than replacing them. Every member, check and drawing stays open to inspection and change; the engineer stays in control of every decision.
